Hospice Taranaki provides free, compassionate care for people in our region living with a life-limiting illness. Their team helps patients manage symptoms and stay comfortable — whether at home, in care facilities, or at Te Rangimarie Hospice in New Plymouth — while also supporting families every step of the way.

Their purpose is simple: to help people live every moment with dignity, comfort, and connection. By caring for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of both patients and whānau, Hospice Taranaki ensures no one in our community faces the end of life alone.

When Kevin Nielson, the then-new CEO of Hospice Taranaki, approached us back in 2006, he was looking for a partner to help with some major fundraising events as well as their day-to-day print and signage needs. Shane already knew Kevin well — they’d worked together at Taranaki Newspapers, where Kevin had been Shane’s boss — so it was a natural connection.

We jumped at the chance to support Hospice because of the incredible care they gave when Shane’s dad was very ill. Knowing that Hospice Taranaki receives only about 50% of its funding from the government, we understood how important every dollar is. From the start, our goal was simple — to help them save money wherever we could, so those funds could go straight back into the vital care and support they provide for our community.
