While the Novotel New Plymouth Hobson was under construction, we were approached by Paul Rangiwahia, a local artist who had been commissioned to paint 3 large artworks for the hotel.

We were asked to turn these pieces into inserts in architecturally designed bed heads for all 83 rooms. This was not a simple task, we had to reshape, manipulate and enlarge all images to cater for the many bedding configurations in the Novotel. The largest was 4.8 metres long. All without losing the artists impression for the room. The hotel also asked us to take a large cows face out of an image as their thoughts were that it may scare young children. This is a talent of one of our senior designers, and afterwards if wasn’t possible to tell it had ever been there.

We then printed them onto vinyl and applied the images to metal sheets (ACM). Vinyl was also wrapped around the elevator doors on each level. 8 high quality photographs were installed inside and outside of each door. Along with some interior signage, the Novotel were amazed at what was possible, on a very tight time frame.
